The hardware used in the power system needs to bear a large tension in order to ensure the normal connection of the line, so the damage of the hardware may cause line failure. 10KV and above high-voltage distribution lines in addition to a small number of cables laid underground, most of the cables are set up in the open air. The cross arm of the iron tower belongs to the above-mentioned power fittings and is used to support the weight of the cable in the line. However, there is only a bottle (or overhang) distance between the high-voltage cable and the earth, and the insulation distance is short. Once the cross arm of the iron tower is exposed in the air and corroded, the safety, stability and continuous operation of the line will be affected. Especially in the industrial developed areas with high acid content in the air, due to acid corrosion, the aging speed of the cross arm of the iron tower will be accelerated, which is easy to produce corona phenomenon and trip accident.

How to make cable terminals and intermediate joints

The joint at the two ends of the cable line is called the cable terminal head, the joint in the middle is called the intermediate joint, and the terminal head and the intermediate joint are collectively referred to as the cable head. The cable head is generally made on site after the cable is laid in place. Its main function is to keep the cable sealed, so that the line is smooth, and the insulation level at the cable joint enables it to operate safely. There are many ways to make cable heads, but most of them are heat-shrinkable and cold-shrinkable.
